Panagiotis Kokkalis was born in Greece, in 1981. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in School of Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences (field of optoelectronics and laser) and his Ph.D. in Atmospheric Physics from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece in 2007, 2009 and 2014, respectively. As an undergraduate and graduate research assistant at NTUA he has been working in the field of ground based and space borne active and passive remote sensing techniques. His Ph.D. was focused on a technical part related with the upgrade/optimization of NTUA’s Raman lidar, as well as on aerosol characterization through the synergy of Raman/depolarization lidar and sunphotometric techniques. During his Ph.D., he worked for 3 months (2009), at the Ludwig Maximilians University for the development of a  software tool for lidar optimization in near field. He has developed several user friendly software packages for depolarization and Raman lidar signal analysis at NTUA. For the time period 2010-2014, he was responsible for the operation maintenance and data processing of NTUA’s multi-wavelength lidar station (EARLINET member), as well as for ESA’s mobile depolarization/Raman lidar system (2009-current), currently hosted at NOA. At NOA, he was responsible for the development of the performance estimator software tool, characterizing the efficiency of a novel multiwavelength multidepolarization high spectral resolution airborne lidar system. Currently, he is Assist. Prof. at the University of Kuwait (Kuweit).
